[title of show] - 10/2004.  Live NYMF cast.  Not the clearest sound, but a good listen to the first version of the show, different from what ended up off-broadway.

13 DAUGHTERS - 1961.  Original Honolulu cast, LP transfer.  The show went on to flop on Broadway.

25th ANNUAL...SPELLING BEE - unknown date (2005).  Original cast I believe.  A little hiss, but a very listenable recording.

25th ANNUAL PUTNUM COUNTY SPELLING BEE (Adult Show) [2006.01.22] – Not the clearest of recordings, a lot of the jokes are missed in the laughter.  But if you are familiar with the show, all the naughty humor and references to other shows is still pretty funny.

25th ANNUAL PUTNUM COUNTY SPELLING BEE (Adult Show) [2006.08.20] - The San Francisco cast, with Aaron J. Albano; Stanley Bahorek; Jenni Barber; Jim Cashman; Jared Gerner; James Monroe Iglehart; Sara Inbar; Greta Lee; Betsy Wolfe.

AIDA - (14 tracks) demos, sung by Elton John

AIDA - Early reading when still called "Elaborate Lives".  With Simone, Hank Stratton, and Sherie Rene Scott.

AIDA – [2004.01.04] - Soundboard with Michelle T. Williams-Aida, Will Chase-Radames, Mandy Gonzalez-Amneris.  SOUNDBOARD, edited to songs only.

AIDA – (Covers) - 3 different pop covers of “Easy As Life” sung by Deborah Cox.

AIN'T SUPPOSED TO DIE A NATURAL DEATH - LP transfer of this 1971 Broadway cast album.  A decent hit at the time (325 performances), but very "of it's time".

ALADDIN – (29 tracks) – includes work tapes, demos and final tracks for the Disney film.

ALADDIN – (9 tracks) – composer demos for the composers original concept of the Disney film, which Alan Menkin says was ultimately too dark for Disney.  Some of the songs are similar, but with lyric changes.  Notable is the cut song “Proud Of Your Boy”.

ALICE [1978] - What?  A Mike Nichols flop?  This show closed in Philadelphia before it could transfer to Broadway, and has been described as nothing less than a disaster.  Starred Debbie Allen (Alice), Alice Ghostley (Lilly White/White Queen), Paula Kelly (Regina), Cleavant Derricks (Tweedledee, Clinton Derricks-Carroll (Tweedledum), and Hamilton Camp (Ted White).

ALIVE IN THE WORLD [2006.09.0] - NYMF cast, with Kelli O'Hara, Aaron Lohr, Marcy Harriell, and Greg Naughton.

ALL BETS OFF - demo (5 tracks).  Don't know much about this, but Patti LuPone is in the cast.  Good transfer from cassette.

ALL THAT HE WAS - Demo (16 tracks).  This is such an obscure little LA musical, I never expected to find demos.  The score is somewhat marginal but has some nice melodies and clever lyrics.

ALL SHOOK UP demo (5 tracks) - With Jerry Dixon, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Julia Murney, Manley Pope, Billy Porter, Schele Williams

ALL SHOOK UP - 3/9/05 - Tracked only into acts.

ALTAR BOYZ - 6/25/05, with Scott Porter, Tyler Maynard, Andy Karl, Ryan Duncan & David Josefsberg.

AMERICA KICKS UP ITS HEELS – (1983, Playwrights Horizons) with Patti LuPone, Dick Latessa, Peggy Hewett, R.Boudreau, R.Dorfman, I.M.Hobson.  Fairly muffled, but interesting to fans.

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN (1949) - The movie version was supposed to have starred none other than Judy Garland, but after filming several scenes she was fired as she battled drug problems.  This was an LP released in the early 80's that uncovered her vocal tracks which she had recorded before filming began. 15 tracks, and includes Howard Keel.  A straight transfer without any cleaning, so there are still cracks and pops from the LP, but still a clear recording and a must have for Garland fans (she sounds great).

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN – Promo release of Reba McEntire singing “You Can’t Get A Man With A Gun” and “ I Got Lost In His Arms”.

ANYONE CAN WHISTLE - I believe this is an LP transfer of some kind of cover album. 8 tracks.

APPLE TREE, THE – [2005.05.12] - Encores, with Kristin Chenowith, Malcolm Gets and Michael Ceveris.

ARTHUR - [1988] Demo (10 tracks) - With Harry Groener and Liz Callaway, with additional vocals and narration by the composers.  Music: Michael Skloff, Book/Lyrics: David Crane and Marta Kauffman (yes, the people who brought you "Friends")

CAROL CHANNING - (11 tracks)  Transferred from LP, this is a recording of a cabaret show she did originally in Vegas and then toured with.  In one segment she apologizes to her Washington D.C. audience for her hair, and of course she sings "Little Rock" and "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend".  Entertaining as only she can be.

CARRIE - 5/88 - Broadway cast SOUNDBOARD.

CHROMIUM HOOK, THE - NYMF.  10/04.  With Leah Hocking, Alison Fraser, Evan Pappas, Sebastian Arcelus, & Anika Larson.   Songs only.

CHU CHEM - My best guess is that this is some kind of demo or unmastered cast album for the 1989 flop Bway production.

CRY-BABY - demo (3 tracks) - sung by composer Harry Krieger

THE CURE - demo/workshop - (6 tracks)  Jeremy Kushnier, Will Chase.  For an upcoming movie musical about cancer and vampires.  Seriously.

DANGEROUS MUSIC – 10/1988, Florida cast.  This was supposed to be Harry Kriegers follow-up to "Dreamgirls", but as far as I know went no further than this one staging.  Recorded from audience, some of the lyrics are hard to follow.  But what a cast - Laurie Beechman, Shawn Cassidy, Donna Murphy & Jodi Benson.  The show is sung through.

GYPSY [2006.08.13] - A semi-staged concert with Patti LuPone as Rose.  In two tracks.  Sounds pretty cavernous, but easy to make out all the dialogue and lyrics.

HAIR [2004.09.20] - BCEFA Benefit - recorded from audience, decent sound.  All-star cast, including Lillias White, Lea Delaria, Jai Rodriguez, Euan Morton, Chuck Cooper, Shoshana Bean, Harvey Fierstein, Ana Gasteyer, Laura Benanti, Chris Sieber, John Targaglia, Adam Pascal, Gavin Creel, Jackie Hoffman, Raul Esparza, Jennifer Hudsgon and Julie Garnye.

HAIRSPRAY [2004.03.24]  Broadway cast with Shoshana Bean as Tracy and Harvey Fierstein as Edna.

HARD JOB BEING GOD - Original Cast Album, transferred from LP (1971).  This isn't the original Broadway cast, maybe a studio album?  Not a great transfer, the sound is ok but there is a lot of skipping especially in the last tracks.

HARMONY - [1997] (18 tracks) - Composer demo, transferred from cassette with some generational loss.  The last track is Barry singing  "Every Single Day" at some kind of concert with a full orchestra, from a soundboard.

HAROLD & MAUDE - Demo (12 tracks),  With Gavin Creel, Dorothy Stanley, Donna English, Steve Routman, and Christa Justus.

HAVANA - Demo (10 tracks) - Frank Wildhorn demos.  Transferred from a casette, so some hiss and distortion.  With Linda Eder.  I'm not a huge Wildhorn fan, but this is probably my favorite of his work.  Would love to trade for a cleaner copy.

THE HIGHEST YELLOW – [2004.11.06] – Signature Theatre Company.  Featuring Marc Kudisch, Judy Kuhn, Jason Danielly, Donna Migliaccio, Harry Winter, Steven Gregory Smith and R. Scott Thompson in this Michael John LaChuisa musical.  A little quiet but listenable.

HOME AGAIN, HOME AGAIN - [1978]  Demo (16 tracks).  Sung by composers Cy Coleman and Barbara Fried.  The musical closed on the road, which inspired Coleman to write "13 Days to Broadway", a musical about a musical that closes on the road, which utilized some of these songs.

HOME SWEET HOMER - 1/1976.  The 1 performance flop.  With Yul Brynner, Joan Diener, Russ Thacker, and Martin Vidnovic.

HOT SEPTEMBER - [9/1965] (songs only).  Recorded out of town in Boston.  With Sean Garrison; Sheila Sullivan; Betty Lester; Lovelady Powell; Eddie Bracken; Lee Lawson

HOT SPOT – demos (9 tracks)

HOT SPOT – 1963 - live Mary Rodgers musical starring Judy Holliday.  Songs only.  Lyrics are a challenge to hear, but considering the age of the show not surprising.

HOT SPOT – Covers – Includes “Don’t Laugh”, “Hey Love”, “Gaby”, “I Think The World Of You”.

THE HOUSE OF MARTIN GUERRE [1996.06.23] – This version by composers Leslie Arden and Anna Cascio played the Goodman Theatre.  With a cast that included Anthony Crivello (Arnaud), Julain Molnar (Bertrande), Frances Limoncelli (Bertrande’s friend), Hollis Resnik (Bertrande’s mother), Willie Malnati (Martin?), Kelly Anne Clark (Guerre sister), Marnie Nicolella (Guerre sister), Kingsley Leggs.  A bit quiet but ok.

INTO THE LIGHT [1986.10.0] The six performance flop about the Shroud of Turin.  Cast included Dean Jones; Thomas Batten; Susan Bigelow; Alan Brasington; Ted Forlow; Danny Gerard; Mitchell Greenberg; Kathryn McAteer; William Parry; Casper Roos; Gordon Stanley; Peter Walker; and Lenny Wolpe.

INTO THE WOODS – demo – (10 tracks) – 6 tracks are an early demo with what I assume is Ellen Foley.  The lyrics are vastly different, this is probably one of the most interesting demos I’ve ever listened to. The last four are from a rehearsal with the original Bway cast.

INTO THE WOODS - Reading with Betty Buckley and a partial cast - sounds like Sondheim at the piano singing some of the parts.  Terrible sound unfortunately, most of the words are impossible to make out.  Anyone have a better version?

INTO THE WOODS - [12/1986] Original San Diego cast.  Some of the original Bway company (Gleason, Zien, etc) but some changes, with Ellen Foley as the witch.  The baker's wife dies by eating a poisoned apple.

JASON ROBERT BROWN: LIVE AT BIRDLAND [2006.10.16]

JEAN SEBERG  - (1983) Not sure if this is a workshop or perhaps a backers audition, but it seems like a large audience watching the show performed with some stage directions ("blackout!") and sung with a piano.  With Elizabeth Counsell, John Savident, David Ryall and Joss Ackland.

JEEVES - Original 1975 London Cast Album, transferred from LP.  With Michael Aldridge, Debbie Bowen, Angela Easterling, David Hemmings and John Turner.

JEKYLL & HYDE - (Australian Cast) - This 7 track CD was released in Australia in preparation for a production of the show that was ultimately cancelled.  The CD had been released to radio stations for publicity, but was almost immediately recalled due to rights issues.  Luckily a few copies made it out and have been circulating.  Simon Burke as J&H, Delia Hannah as Lucy, and Terri Crouch as Emma.

JEKYLL & HYDE - An eight track demo in Spanish featuring Carlos Marin (now of Il Divo) and Gema Castano.

A JOYFUL NOISE – A 2 track demo.

A JOYFUL NOISE - SOUNDBOARD of the 1966 12 performance flop - With John Raitt, Susan Watson, Karen Morrow, Leland Palmer.  (Tommy Tune is in the ensemble).  Songs only, sounds as if it may be culled from two or more performances

A JOYFUL NOISE – Covers – Vikki Carr singing “Until Today” and the Johnny Mann Singers singing “Wither Thou Goest” and “A Joyful Noise”.

JUST SO (unknown date) Live London Cast.

KERMIT: PRINCE OF DENMARK - demo (8 tracks) sung by composers - this was their pre-Avenue Q project.

LESTAT [2005.12.28]  San Francisco Cast.

LET 'EM ROT [1988] - Soundboard, songs only.  No info on the cast, but I believe it played both the White Barn Theatre in CT and the Coconut Grove Playhouse in FL before they changed the title to "Welcome To The Club" (and then "Exactly Like You", and THEN to "Lovers, Lawyers and Lunatics".)

LET MY PEOPLE COME - LP transfer of the 1974 Off-Broadway cast album.  The show itself later transferred to Broadway where it played 128 previews without ever opening.  Don't be misled, this is a dirty and graphic sex musical.  Sometimes funny, always blunt, this is not for anyone offended by sex talk.  I will only trade this with people I know, not because it is so rare or special, but just because I'm not taking the chance of trading with someone who is underage.  Sorry! Featured in the cast is Shezwae Powell, and although her songs are relatively tame I wonder what she thinks of this show now.

THE LIEUTENANT - LP Transfer of the unreleased Cast Album for the 1975 9 performance flop about the Vietnam war.  Starring Eddie Mekka.  It's a mess, but worth a listen if you're into flops.

LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA - 2003 - Intiman Theatre in Seattle with Victoria Clark, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Wayne Wilcox, Mark Harelik, Patti Cohenour

THE LITTLE MERMAID – (29 tracks) worktapes, demos and final versions of the movie score.  Includes one cut song, “Silence Is Golden”, which was replaced by “Poor Unfortunate Souls”.

THE LITTLE MERMAID - demo (18 tracks) For the in-development stage musical, with new songs.  Cast includes Kerry Butler, Gavin Creel, Emily Skinner, Jeff McCarthy and (possibly) Joe Farrell and Buddy Hackett.  Bonus track of Kerry singing "Part Of Your World" accompanied by Seth Rudesky on piano.

A LITTLE PRINCESS - demo (8 songs), by Andrew Lippa, w/Megan McGinnis.  With some songs which were cut.

A LITTLE PRINCESS [2004.09.03] The Lippa version, full show live, w/Mackenzie Maury and Matt Bogart. Miss Minchin is played by Kimberly King in Act 1, but is replaced by Emily Sache for Act 2 due to some backstage incident.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS - (5 tracks) - demos for five cut songs

LITTLE WOMEN - Demos (9 tracks).  Sounds like Sutton Foster, unsure of rest of cast.

LITTLE WOMEN – [2005.01.27]

MACY’s SANTA CLAUS ADVENTURE – (4 tracks) Notable only because Liz Callaway sings one track.

MADAME APHRODITE - Demo (5 tracks).  This was a Jerry Herman flop off-Broadway show in 1961, and no recording was made.  These five songs were sung and recorded much later - I'm guessing the 80s though it is just a guess - by an unnamed Broadway-style male singer with a piano.  Nothing fancy, but interesting to hear.

MAKING MARY - demo (3 tracks)

MARDI GRAS - LP Transfer of the 1976 London Cast Album.

MASADA - Demo of one track, "Hail".

MEET JOHN DOE - 10/04, NYMF, with Donna Lynn Champlin, Michael Halling, Brooke Ferris, Demond Green, Patrick Ryan Sullivan, Guy Paul.  Songs Only.

MISS SAIGON – [2001.01.28] - Final Show.  Lea Salonga, Will Chase.

MOLLY [1973] - (songs only)  The show, starring Kaye Ballard, lasted 68 performances on Broadway.

MOTHER'S KISSES, A [9/1968] - The show closed before reaching Broadway, this recording was made out of town in New Haven.  The show starred Bea Arthur, with Bernadette Peters in a small role.

MOTHER'S KISSES, A [10/1968] - Recorded in Baltimore before closing.  Not as good a recording as the New Haven recording, but somewhat more complete.

NEFERTITI – The show closed prior to Bway, but a cast album was still recorded in 1979.  Cast includes Andrea Marcovecchi and Robert LuPone.  Transferred from LP.  Supposedly a new version is eyeing a Bway run this next season.  The good stuff is great, but then there are songs like “Egypt is Egypt Again!”.

NEFERTITI - Demos (14 tracks).  The show has been reworked for a possible new Broadway run (wishful thinking I suspect).  This is a collection of demos, some sung by the composers (I assume), some by "real" singers, and one or two additions from the '79 cast album.  The good songs sound worse, and the bad songs sound, well, bad.

NEVER GONNA DANCE - publicity demo (3 tracks) sung by Amy Spanger and Will Chase.

NEWSICAL - 12/2005.  John Tartaglia, Jamison Stern, Stephanie Kurtzuba, Trisha Rapier.  Very clear audio.

NEXT TIME NOW - 12/1989.  This was the first version of "Closer Than Ever", and was performed at Eighty-Eights with Brent Barrett, Lynn Winterstellar and Michael Brian.  The song list is somewhat different ("Hero's Love/Role Reversal") and "She Loves Me Not" was still in it's original "The Sap Of Life" form regarding all of the pronouns.  A good audio.
